    I think that statement about sounding like a beginner could be insulting. As a beginner with one year playing and the first grade under my belt, I would love to play and sound like the first part.

    Sorry.. I don't agree with you, the strings 100 dollar are bright and crisp.. and ultimately it is the heart and soul of the individual player that makes the cello sing! Thank you anyway.. I have a Jarger A string and the rest are larsen, simply because at the time of replacement it's what I could afford, I would love to have all new top class strings can't afford at moment.. Jarger is harder on the finger yes! ❤

    I am a cellist by trade. I teach at a middle school and have been using a Krutz 100 model (new this fall of 2024) to teach in front of the classes. It has already, in @6 months, begun to unravel at TWO points on the D string. Just shows how cheap and dangerous some of these strings can be. I will put a higher quality set on there and anticipate better safety and sound quality.

    ❓what’s the physical difference between a $100 and $1000 cello❓ Strings obviously. But what else? Nobody ever explains what about the cello is better or “more expensive” Is it made from different wood? Heavier, thicker wood? My daughter has one that is about $1200 it looks exactly like every other one. The 100k ones on other comparison vids look exactly the same.

    • @jenna2431
      @jenna2431 6 місяців тому

      Mostly the aging of the wood. Cheaper ones, the wood might be baked a bit, rather than naturally aged. That's one. Type of wood is another. Should be spruce top and back minimum .The other is handcrafted versus machined versus some combination of the two.

    Pirastro Piranitos are reputed to be much much better than the typical cheap string set, but they're only about $88 per set in 2024. Maybe add a mellower A string. A is the least expensive string of the four, get a single expensive A string for 40 bucks. Use the C G and D Piranito from the Piranito set. You've now a much improved inexpensive Cello and in your case there's a spare A string.

    The 1 million cello was better for the swan with a richer deeper sound. For your piece, which is a very nice flashy piece, both cellos are nice and I understand whoever preferred the 50'000 cello for it was ta little more punchy, maybe.

    I don't understand, maybe I'm deaf😅, but I don't hear the difference. It's sound really deep for a cheap cello, a lot of obertones for the both sets of strings.

    so, the comparison only works , to hear the same piece on the cellos. The Ruggieri has wonderful colours and a cremonese timbre. The other cello is very good, but not so thrilling , but may be better for Shostakovitch etc.

    No wonder my cello sounded so squeaky when changing pitch and strings. I was trying a variety of budget strings on my student cello. Looks like I found a dirt cheap one that sounds like a toy guitar on my cello. Thank you for this! It's less reaponsive on cheaper/lower quality strings.

    I've tried the Magnicores, but think I like the Larsen A,D and Spirocore G,C better. Has anyone tried Rondo? I've heard they are nice. I really enjoyed this. I have students with cheap cellos. Always wondered what this change would do.

    One has to also realise that it will take two/three years before a new cello, or a cello that hasn't been played for years to find its voice.

    I do like the 50K cello better but you played more stuff on it than the 1M. The lower range on the 50K is nice and punchy. Can you do this again but play the same thing on both cellos? For the price difference, I can buy a pretty nice house to play the 50K in. 😁
